Nicole Richie has been announced to play the new boss in season 2 of PopSugar’s scripted comedy “Seriously Distracted.” Read below for more information about the show as well as other productions from PopSugar.
PopSugar has found the lead for its new scripted series.
Mae Whitman (Parenthood) will star in All My Friends Are Getting Married, a previously announced series from Broadway Video’s Above Average. The show is about a single woman who is forced to attend a string of bachelorette parties hosted by her newly engaged friends.
The series is the second scripted comedy from PopSugar, which last year launched Seriously Distracted. Co-produced with online comedy network Above Average, Seriously Distracted starred Amy Sedaris as the boss of a high-powered PR firm where the employees were known to get a bit off track when pop culture news would break. This season the staff is back with a new boss, played by Nicole Richie.
PopSugar also announced several new unscripted series, including Hannahgram starring Hannah Bronfman. The DJ and Instagram star appeared on stage to take a selfie with the audience. Other new series include real estate series Upstaged with Cheryl Eisen, PopSugar Beauty Junkie with Kirbie Johnson and Knock Knock with designer Rachel Antonoff.
In addition, the female-focused brand is teaming up with YouTuber Ingrid Nilsen for Ingrid Dishes, where she will make food alongside actors, musicians and even some of her fans.
Editor Matthew Rodrigues also came on stage to announce that all of PopSugar’s franchise unscripted series are returning in 2016.
PopSugar Studios president David Grant started off the presentation, announcing that the comapny reached 2 billion view views.
“We cracked the code on making videos that blow up on screens everywhere,” he said, noting that stats don’t matter “unless we stand for something.”
