Nicole Richie talks to Cosmo about women’s empowerment

Written by admin on November 20 2015

Nicole Richie was recently interviewed by Darla Murray from Cosmopolitan on her Pearl xChange event which took place on November 8th.

What I like about this seminar is that it supports the idea that you should collaborate with other people — and that it’s in your own benefit to surround yourself with even smarter people than yourself if you want to get things done.
Right. It’s not about being the same, it’s about understanding your own power and your own strength and not only have your feet planted in the ground with your strength but to have your feet planted firmly in the ground with your weaknesses and be just as confident in your weaknesses as your strength. It’s in those moments where we can think, “Okay I want to learn more and develop another layer into my life” — which we’re all capable of — “so let me go partner with this person because I have something that I can give her and something that I can learn from her.”

It’s so inspiring.
Thank you. I go to a lot of these [seminars]. Marian Williamson, she is someone who has been in angel in my life. She came into my life about two years ago and I go to her lectures whenever I can and oftentimes I walk away and there have been moments where I think to myself, I wonder if I would have been able to take in this information when I was 25. I don’t know the answer to that, but I do know there have been moments in the past ten years where I’ve said to myself, “I put myself around this successful person and something great came of it.” So I wanted to create this conference for women who are my age who are just starting to get serious about building their lives. Now I’m thirty four, I have a husband, I have kids, and I’m running a few businesses too — that’s not something I [did] alone.

You keep your kids out of the spotlight — is that deliberate? And why is that?
They haven’t asked to be. They are humans, they’re individuals, and it’s their choice. This is what I do for a living but it’s not what they do for a living. It’s very important for me that they get to live their childhood in the fullest of way.

Written by admin on October 29 2015

Nicole Richie spoke to Ryan Seacrest on October 28th about the Pearl xChange event which will be held at the Sheraton Universal in Los Angeles. The event will include lots of guest speakers including CIA intelligence officer Jeanette Epps, life coach Dougall Fraser, and VIP guest Gwyneth Paltrow to share inspiring and meaningful conversations in order to guide others.

Nicole reveals a lot about the event including how it will work and why it is so important to her. Ryan also asked if her lowest point was during the time she was doing the show ‘The Simple Life’ with Paris Hilton, to which Nicole responded “I’ve had lower.” They talk further about what got Nicole out of the dark path of addiction and to the empowered woman that she is today.

“I’ve gotten together so many speakers and people who have played a huge role in my life. There are six amazing speakers and we’re going to be talking about everything from health and wellness, to family and work balance, self-awareness. I have an astronaut and former CIA agent coming, we’re gonna be talking about science, there’s a bunch of capitalists talking about how to build your business.

It’s a room for women in their 30s, in their 40s, who are really starting to understand their own power, and it’s for all of us to get in a room together and really understand to appreciate other people’s strengths, and just to kind of help us be the best versions of ourselves, but more importantly, to really bring us together.”

Sophia Rossi interviews Nicole Richie for Hello Giggles

Written by admin on October 29 2015

In an interview with her BFF Sophia Rossi, Nicole Richie discussed the Pearl xChange event which is fast approaching (November 8th) and described more about what we can expect and why this event is important for women.

Desperately seeking Nicole

Pearl xChange is a place where like-minded women can find “inspiration, empowerment, and a supportive space for growth and positivity.” This, according to producer and Pearl xChange co-founder Ramey Warren, is their priority. Nicole and Ramey met through work, started sharing (I told you Nicole loves to share), and came up with the idea of a full-day of live speakers. Ranging from actress and GOOP guru, Gwyneth Paltrow, to author and spiritual guru, Marianne Williamson, each woman was hand-selected by Nicole.

In a call between besties, that kept being referred to as a “phoner” (which made us both uncomfortable by the way), I make — ask—Nicole to tell me everything.

On starting this journey:

Sophia Rossi: OK, tell me about Pearl. Tell me everything about it! How did the name happen? What was the impetus?

Nicole Richie: The Pearl xChange is a live event for women who inspire personal growth. When my partner, Ramey, and I came up with the idea originally, it was meant for women in their 30s, who are in the process of building their lives. Women who are trying to understand the world around them. But after we got started on it, I’ve had 20-year-old women, and 60-year-old women alike tell me they want to come. Really what this event is, is six speakers who are huge inspirations to me, people that I learn from and that I’m friends with. Some of my greatest teachers. We’ll be talking about everything from building your business to conscious living, to health and wellness, to science. I wanted to really just introduce these seekers to other women my age.

On being a seeker:

SR: I love when you call these women seekers. What does a seeker mean to you? I think everyone has it in them, but maybe they don’t know how to articulate it.

NR: For me, a seeker is somebody who is trying to understand the world around them on a deeper level — looking out to the world, but also remembering how important it is to simultaneously look inward at themselves.
