One must be careful not to use the b-word around Nicole Richie. “I hate the term bohemian,” the House of Harlow 1960 designer, author, and actress confesses. So when it came to updating the backyard of the Laurel Canyon home she shares with her husband, Good Charlotte frontman Joel Madden and their two children (son Sparrow, 3, and daughter, Harlow, 5), Richie plotted a course toward all things “relaxed and eclectic.” The direction resulted in a vintage-meets-industrial makeover of the Moroccan-tinged outdoor area, which she unveiled at a late-summer dinner party staged for friends including stylist Simone Harouche, Pressed Juicery co-founder Hedi Gores, and Domaine co-founder Katherine Power. And while the environs may have been new, the act of entertaining—complete with a Middle Eastern menu created by chef Jeffrey Nimer and a classic rock soundtrack (The Animals, Led Zeppelin, and Janis Joplin)—is business as usual at Richie HQ: “Our house is the one people come to, to hang,” she says.

NBC fits new projects into their TV schedule for next season thus resulting in cancelling Fashion Star, which has lost a significant amount of views since it first aired.
NBC has cancelled the reality competition, in which a group of fashion designers competed to have their garments sold in Macy’s, Saks and Express stores, NBC Entertainment president Bob Greenblatt confirmed Saturday at the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour.
Speaking to reporters following his morning session, Greenblatt confirmed the fate of the series with a swift and firm “no” when asked by The Hollywood Reporter if the show would return.
The network moved the show from Tuesday to Friday nights for its second season. It also was given a revamp, with Louise Roe brought in as host (replacing executive producer Elle Macpherson), Express taking over for H&M on the buyers’ panel and the designers getting grouped into teams under one of the mentors — Jessica Simpson, Nicole Richie or John Varvatos — who also took on more of a hands-on role in helping the competitors.
The May 10 finale of the reality show drew 2.5 million viewers and a 0.5 rating in the coveted adults 18-49 demo, a significant drop from the season-one finale’s 1.6 rating (on a Tuesday night).

Ashley Tisdale has revealed her fashion choices are inspired by Nicole Richie and admitted that she is a big fan of the star’s “bohemian” look.
The ‘Scary Movie 5’ actress loves to experiment with different looks and always keeps a close eye on what the ‘Fashion Star’ mentor is wearing for inspiration.
“I love what she does with bohemian stuff. I’m a big fan. My style can be all over the place. My style is an expression of what I’m feeling. I go from beachy California girl to edgy super chick,” Ashley said.
Ashley realises the importance of accessories when she is putting together her outfits and has a go-to handbag that never lets her down.
“My Hermes Birkin bag is my favourite bag. I’ve always been a fan of the Birkin and I waited so long to get on the list,” she revealed.
Nicole is a successful fashion designer and as well as her ‘House of Harlow’ range – which is named after her daughter with her musician husband Joel Madden – she launched a clothing collection Macy’s Impulse last September.
